Frequently Asked Questions

SIZING

How do I find out my ring size?
The most accurate and recommended way to get your ring size is to have it measured by a jeweller using a ring sizer.
You can either pop into our studio or visit a local jeweller and they can assist you.
In South Africa we use the British sizing system which is alphabetical but different countries and companies use various different scales so bare this in mind.

Some factors to consider that affect your ring size:

Temperature, exercise, time of the day or year, weight gain or loss and pregnancy status can affect the size of your fingers.
You may be half a size bigger if your hands are hot or half a size smaller if your hands are cold.

A wider ring will feel tighter in the same size as a finer ring so it is recommended that you go up a size with wider rings.

When ordering a gold ring, we’d suggest providing the accurate ring size not a guesstimation. We cannot be held responsible for inaccurate sizes.
How to determine your ring size at home?
Found the perfect ring but need help determining your or someone else's ring size?
We've created a sizing guideand a few tips on how to figure out your ring size at home.
Please note this is merely a guide and we cannot be held liable if the rings ordered do not fit properly.
We advise going to a local jeweller to confirm the correct size before ordering. If you already own a ring, simply measure the inside diameter of the ring and match the size to the ring size chart. If you don't have a ring, then measure the intended ring finger and match the measurement to the chart.
Try to be as accurate as possible.

Tips for measuring your ring size

- If using a ring to measure, ensure that you choose a ring that fits the intended ring finger.

 - If measuring a finger, measure towards the end of the day when the finger is warm. When your fingers are cold there can be up to half a size difference.

- Keep in mind that rings with a thicker band feel tighter than those that have a thinner band. If you're measuring a thin band, and intend to buy a thicker band, look to buy a full ring size bigger.

How to measure your ring size at home

If you can not make it to a jeweller you can use a piece of cardboard or hard plastic which is about the width of the desired ring. Wrap it around your finger and mark the point where it overlaps. After you have measured and cut the correct length, tape it together at the join and place it on your finger. Make sure the pretend ring fits snugly on your finger but moves over your knuckles comfortably. Once you are happy with the fit you can convert the length into the UK ring size using the chart provided in the size guide.

How do I care for my jewellery?
All Chantal Jaimee Jewellery pieces are made with quality materials. However, care should be taken not to subject your piece to excessive force when putting it on, wearing and removing it. All your silver, gold and brass pieces can be worn while swimming and showering. Your pieces may slightly dis-colour from these activities but the more you wear them the shinier they'll become.

Some of our pieces are plated. Gold plating is only a surface finish and naturally wears away over time. To care for your plated pieces it is best to treat these as occasional jewellery rather than wear them everyday. Remove them before showering, exercising and swimming. Perfumes, lotions and makeup will corrode the coating, so avoid any moisture or liquids. All sterling silver will naturally tarnish over time, but this process can happen faster if it comes into contact with moisture or liquids. The amount of tarnish that occurs is dependent on the skin type and care habits of the wearer. It is recommended that you store your jewellery in an airtight container to prevent tarnishing. Tarnishing is not a manufacturing fault, and can be cleaned at home using our cleaning methods.

Jewellery occasionally needs a clean. This can be done using a soft toothbrush with warm, soapy water. You can also buy a jewellery polishing cloth to help keep your jewellery looking its best. Cleaning with chemicals is not recommended on gold plated pieces. We offer jewellery cleaning and replating services on request if you feel your piece needs some extra love. Price depends on the size of the piece (excludes return and delivery postage costs).
